Trauma/PTSD
Post-traumatic stress can occur following a single event or repeated experiences.
It can feel as though the event has not fully ended—your body and mind may keep reliving it through flashbacks, nightmares, or sudden surges of fear.
Everyday sights, sounds, or smells can bring you right back to the worst moments, making the world feel unsafe. These are not signs of weakness—they are understandable survival responses.
In an initial meeting we can consider how you would like to get beyond living with these experiences.
We can think about which evidence based, first line treatments (recommended by NICE) feel most helpful to you including trauma-focused individual therapy or EMDR. https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng116
We will work at a pace that feels safe, working to reduce distress and move towards helping you reconnect with life in the present.
For children, treatment may involve parents and caregivers.
